HATTIESBURG (WHPM) - Winds of change are blowing days after the first game of the black and gold's 2020 football season. SouthernMiss.com confirms multiple reports Jay Hopson is resigning as Southern Miss' head football coach. "Coach Hopson came to me after last Thursday's game to discuss what was on his heart and after much discussion over the weekend, he and I agreed that new leadership for our football program is needed," Jeremy McClain, Southern Miss' athletic director, said in a statement. FCSD searching for Hattiesburg man wanted in several burglaries

Michael Oswalt, 27, of Hattiesburg, may have changed his appearance since the photo, seen in this story provided by the authorities, was taken, the sheriff's department said. Jones College, relatives of late LPD chief establish Tyrone Stewart scholarship

ELLISVILLE - Soon after Laurel Police Chief, Tyrone Stewart’s passing in January of 2019, his family began the process to endow a scholarship at Jones College in his memory. Even though Stewart never attended Jones, his family had many connections to the college. His wife, sister, nephew, nieces, and cousins attended Jones College. Tyrone’s daughter, Jasmine was dually enrolled at Jones College and Northeast Jones High School.
