Forrest county residents scammed with fake IRS calls

October 14, 2015

Residents in Forrest County are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer.

If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver's license.

Nick Calico, investigator for the Forrest county Sheriff Department says, "If they use the scam of the Forrest county Sheriff Department we don't solicit any payments or anything over the phone and just like the Publishers Clearing House or the IRS they are not going to call you to solicit any type of money or any type of correspondance."

Calico mentions if you experience any suspicious calls, alert the Forrest county Sheriff Department.
