United Blood Services gives back to the future...
Hattiesburg, MS - It is finally here, October 21st, 2015 the day Marty Mcfly time traveled to in order to fix his kids' future in the 1989 movie "Back to the Future Part II". United Blood Services decided to take this day and give people a chance to donate blood and help others fix their future.
Katie Martin, Senior Donor Recruitment Representative says, "It is been a lot of fun and you know everyday whenever people donate blood they are giving patients a future."
Although, for some donating is more than giving, it has a personal touch too. David Lomas a donator mentions, "My father had a rare blood disorder or immune disorder it attacked his platelets."
United Blood Services says that:
- 4.5 million Americans use blood each year.
- 40% of our poplation is eligible to give, but only 5% ever will.
If ever person who donates 1 time a year, would donate 3 times in a year our area would never suffer from a bloog shortage and if you're a big fan of the Back to the Future trilogy donating blood is pretty 'heavy'.
United Blood Services is urging the Pine Belt community to donate blood as October is one of the slowest months of the year.
