USM hosts safety and security summit

HATTIESBURG, Miss - Marathon officials from around the county will meet at the USM Gulf Park campus in Long Beach next week for the National Marathon Safety and Security Summit, which is hosted by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Secuity (NCS4).

 

Dr. Lou Marciani, Director of NCS4 says, "The goal of the summit is to develop strategies to implement best practices by addressing major safety and security issues."

 

He further mentions, "The recent tragedies in Paris reiterates the need for further developing safety and security baseline for stadiums and outdoor events such as marathons."

 

Attendees will discuss resouces, legal challenges, risk analysis, and more.
