Baxterville students can transfer to Purvis Middle School

Lamar County, Miss. - A unanimous vote by the Lamar County School Board has approved a plan that will potentially impact Baxterville students.

Students from grades 6-8, can transfer to Purvis Middle School if they want to.

Superintendent, Tess Smith said, "I'm pleased with it. I think it’s the best solution for all, because I wanted to see about increasing our student outcomes. I thought that moving grades 6-8 would help with that. Change is always very difficult and I can understand the Baxterville community being upset about it. We've got some policies to write and things to put in place, but we're going to do everything we can to make sure that all students are successful."
