Man charged with two counts of sexual battery

JONES COUNTY, Miss - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

On January 11, 2016, Jones County Sheriff’s Investigators received information regarding a possible sexual battery case involving a 13 year old victim.

The victim’s mother stated she had come across some information belonging to her daughter that made her suspicious of inappropriate behavior between the juvenile and Ocie Smith, 30.

A forensic interview was scheduled and conducted with the victim. Two separate occasions of inappropriate sexual encounters were revealed between the juvenile and Smith.

A warrant for Smith’s arrest was issued. With the help of the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Smith was taken into custody at a residence in Louin and charged with two counts of Sexual Battery.

Smith’s bond was set at $25,000 per count.
