Traffic stop busts meth retailer

February 15, 2016

JONES COUNTY, Miss - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

George Tucker, 53 of Laurel, has a history of incarceration for various drug convictions, including Federal and State Prison.  He had been under surveillance by the Jones County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division.

On Friday, February 12, 2016, Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies were coincidentally conducting a routine safety checkpoint, when they were informed that Tucker was in the area.  When he reached the checkpoint, deputies discovered his driver’s license was suspended.  They asked him if he had anything illegal in the vehicle, to which he replied, “No,” and consented to a search of the car.  K9 Shadow was on duty and walked around Tucker’s vehicle and alerted to the presence of what was determined to be approximately two ounces of methamphetamines (a street value of roughly $5,000).

Tucker was taken into custody and brought to be interviewed by the Jones County Sheriff’s Narcotics Division.  He admitted to being a “mid level retailer” moving thousands of dollars of methamphetamines to dealers around the area.  He was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance.  Tucker is currently on parole with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.  His initial appearance at the Jones County Justice Court is being set at a later date.
