Doped up brownie bust at West Jones high school

JONES COUNTY, Miss - This is a press release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

 

On Friday, February 26, 2016, during morning school hours, West Jones High School Resource Officer, Phillip Maskew, responded to reports of some suspicious activity in the boys’ restroom. When he checked out the situation, he found, student Tra’vas Allen, 19, and three juveniles in the room. A knife was found on Allen as well as several brownies. After a brief on site investigation, Maskew discovered the brownies contained marijuana. A 16 year-old juvenile stated Allen had provided the marijuana a couple of days prior to the incident and the juvenile made the brownies and brought them to school. A total of 8 brownies were made, at the time Maskew came upon the situation, 4 whole and one partially eaten were left. The Jones County Sheriff’s Department was alerted to the situation. Allen was sent home by the school.

 

An arrest warrant was issued for Allen. The Jones County Sheriff’s Department’s Crime Suppression Unit and Deputy Danny Gibson, went to Allen’s residence and took him into custody. He is charged with Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent within 1,500 Feet of a School. Further charges of Allen and the juveniles are possible through the school system. A bond of $5,000 was set for Allen by Judge Billie Graham.
