Hattiesburg residents may receive recycle reward points in the near future

April 6, 2016

HATTIESBURG, Miss - Recyclebank, an environmental organization wants to see an incentive program to encourage residents to recycle for the social good of the environment in Hattiesburg.

The organization pitched the idea to the city. If approved, residents may soon earn points by the curb side weight of their recycles and by participating on online recycling modules.

Laurie Johnson of Recyclebank said, "All these points hold kind of like a bank account. They can go in and see their total points online. They can spend the points back on local businesses, restaurants, family entertainment."

Recyclebank's goal is to educate residents about the benefits of recycling for the environment.

Recyclebank hopes to come to Hattiesburg soon so that the city's residents can enjoy the rewards program while learning about the correct ways to recycle.
