MDOC searching for escaped inmate

COVINGTON COUNTY, Miss. - Authorities are still searching for an inmate who escaped work detail in Collins.

The office of Mississippi Department of Corrections said, 31, Eric Dale Hicks walked away from his work site while on a program with the Mississippi Department of Corrections in Covington county.

Officials said they alerted surrounding law enforcement and residents in the area.
