National Prayer day is recognized the first Thursday of May and around 300 guests were present at the Lake Terrace Convention Center.

Mayor Dupree mentioned today leaders will put all politics aside and unite as a community.

"We can acknowledge the fact there is greater concern out there, we need to pray about them and that's good to talk about God in any problem that we have" said Dupree.

Community leaders, emergency responders, and church leaders were there to honor the special meaning of prayer.
