HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD), Law Enforcement Torch Run Officers, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are teaming up for its 3rd Annual Cops on Doughnut Shops.
The goal is to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Athletes of Mississippi.
HPD's Lieutenant Jon Traxler said, "We're all here for a good reason, we are trying to raise money for Special Olympics to help them get to their games they have every year."
Officers will take to the roof of the Krispy Kreme located at 5006 Hardy St, Hattiesburg, MS, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 14th with the assistance of Hattiesburg Fire Department.
The participating officers from the City of Hattiesburg and Law Enforcement Torch Run® hope to raise $1,500 during the event. Customers who donate $5 or more to the cause will get a sweet treat from Krispy Kreme. For generous corporations, organizations, or individuals donating $1,000 or more, Krispy Kreme will give a complimentary doughnut party.
Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation and local law enforcement officers have worked together for the past 15+ years for the annual Cops on Doughnut Shops® program to benefit Special Olympics.
Over a million dollars has been collected at these events that has benefited athletes competing in the Special Olympics around the US.
