Man in Perry Co. struck by two vehicles, investigation continues


PERRY COUNTY, Miss. - A man in Perry county died early Saturday morning after being hit by two vehicles.

According Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) Information Officer, Brent Barfield, for reasons unknown, the victim, John Joyce was lying in the middle of the road on Highway 29 around 3 a.m., when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

"The car did not see Joyce" said Barfield. Before the first vehicle can turn around and warn oncoming traffic, a second vehicle struck Joyce.

Barfield added, "The second vehicle attempted to swerve, but hit the victim." The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and there are no pending charges at this time.

MHP said they are investigating the case.
