JONES COUNTY, Miss. - This is a press release from the Jones County Volunteer Fire Department.
At around 7:45PM on Monday, units from Moselle Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle versus tree on Ovett-Moselle Road about a half mile from Moselle Fire Department.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a heavily damaged black passenger car on the left side of the road with the driver trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters used prying tools to free the driver from the vehicle. According to reports, the driver was in and out of consciousness when units arrived on scene and he sustained what was believed to be moderate injuries.
Witnesses stated that the car was heading East on Ovett-Moselle Road when the vehicle suddenly swerved left down a small ditch, hit a tree, and spun around, facing the direction from which it came. The driver was transported by EMServ ambulance to South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel for treatment. The cause of the accident is unknown.
Rescue personnel on scene included Moselle Volunteer Fire Department, EMServ Ambulance Service and Jones County Sheriff's Department.
Fire apparatus on scene included Moselle Engine, Pumper and Rescue.
