Local fire department host baseball tournament to help one of its own workers
LAUREL, Miss. -The Sharon Volunteer Fire Department is putting on a baseball tournament Saturday that will help benefit one person's life.
Mike Hodge, Chief of Sharon Volunteer Fire Department said, "I think there's already 11 teams already registered. We're having it for Cindy Shoemake. She's a 20-year veteran of the fire department here and she's been one of the best fire fighters that we had in 20 years. She's having some medical problems right now and we're doing what we can to help her get a little money to pay some of her bills."
Sharon Volunteer Firefighter, Cindy Shoemake said, "It's very touching. It's an answer to prayers and it makes a difference knowing you got people out there that love you and want to help."
The baseball tournament will begin at 8 a.m. at Wooten-Legion Field.
