Sixth homicide in Hub City

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hub City endured its sixth homicide Saturday evening.

 

Hattiesburg Police said they received a call about possible gun shots being fired at 3901 West 4th St.

 

Hattiesburg Police Officer, Lt. Jon Traxler said, "Officers arrived. They did locate a vehicle there with a female subject inside the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. It was determined that she was deceased."

 

Traxler said they arrested Taiwan Blakely, 25, who's accused of killing his girlfriend, Larita Dewberry, 26.

 

"Yesterday on the 10th of July, actually turned himself in to the Forrest County Jail, because he knew we were looking for him for that crime, and he has subsequently been charged with murder," said Traxler.

 

The investigation is ongoing.
