Starkville contestant chosen as Mississippi's Miss Hospitality

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - This is a press release from Miss Hospitality Organization.

 

Mary Elizabeth Stringer from Starkville was crowned 2016 Mississippi Miss Hospitality on Saturday after a magical night at the Hattiesburg Saenger Theater.

 

Mary Elizabeth impressed the judges throughout the week through a process of interviews and speeches, as well as during the on-stage competition which included the Little Black Dress/Commercial Competition and the Evening Gown Competition.

 

Mary Elizabeth Stringer is currently a senior at Mississippi State University where she is studying kinesiology with plans of being a physician’s assistant specializing in pediatrics.  She has served on the executive council of her sorority, Phi Mu, and is actively involved in the Student Association.  She is currently serving her second term as a College of Education ambassador.

 

 

“Mary Elizabeth Stringer will be a wonderful representative for our state in the next year,” said Susan Slaughter, President of the Miss Hospitality Board of Directors. “She has a very exciting year ahead of her as she promotes Mississippi’s Economic Development and Tourism industries. She has proven herself to be an outstanding young lady and we are confident that she will represent our state with beauty and grace.”

 

Rounding out the Top Five were:

 

4th Alternate: Libby Li, Neshoba County

3rd Alternate: Mary Margaret Hyer, Hattiesburg

2nd Alternate: Emily Cockrell, Panola County

1st Alternate:  Lydia Myers, Laurel

 

Carly Chittom of Booneville received the Miss Photogenic Award, and Katelynn McGowen of Ellisville was selected as the Spirit of Miss Hospitality winner, as voted on by the other contestants.

 

As Mississippi Miss Hospitality 2016, Mary Elizabeth Stringer will travel thousands of miles promoting Mississippi’s tourism and economic development.
