PINE BELT, Miss. - The Pine Belt Community Foundation is in the process of giving more than $38,000 in scholarships for this school year.
Executive Director Theresa Erickson said, the foundation manages about 20 scholarship funds.
She said donors like to invest locally, "That student can go to any college in the United States which is real different than giving to a specific location."
Erickson added, "Our scholarship program is a way to give back to help students." Most of the donors who set up the funds are committed to a student's education.
"Students won't be able to go to school, if they did not have these scholarships, and the donors realize that" added Erickson.
