College of Health Dean Forster Selected for State Board
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - This is a press release from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Michael Forster, dean of the College of Health at The University of Southern Mississippi, has been selected to serve on the board of directors for the Mississippi Public Health Institute (MSPHI).
MSPHI is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and improving the health and well-being of Mississippians. It promotes public health by facilitating collaboration among programs and organizations, as well as executing specific projects related to the improvement of health outcomes. MSPHI works closely with the Mississippi Department of Health.
“The organizational mission of improving Mississippi health outcomes is highly compatible with the mission of the College of Health,” said Forster. “I look forward to making contributions that will benefit both MSPHI and The University of Southern Mississippi.”
Forster is one of nine directors on the MSPHI board, which is chaired by Dr. Claude Brunson, professor of anesthesiology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Previously, Forster has served on boards focused on children’s health and well-being, most recently with Youth Villages, Inc. and the citizens review board of the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Division of Family and Children’s Services.
