Petal resident Larry Dailey said he is excited for the city's new growth, "It gives the youth a job, and it helps the city to grow, and when you have growth you have prosperity."
Another resident Joe Mcmurry Senior said, "We need some tax revenue for the city, and I think it is going to be a wonderful deal, it gives people more places to shop without having to go across the river."
Marx said this year the city will see $2.5 million on sales tax alone and it will continue to grow with the up and coming developments.
"It is also good for the city because that money can be put into paving streets, paying for fire department protection, and police protection" said Marx.
He added, "We just look at is as a very positive thing that people to be a part of Petal."
