Mayor Magee signs "Night Out Against Crime" proclamation


HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Mayor Magee of Laurel proclaimed next Tuesday Oct. 4 as "Night Out Against Crime" day.

Law enforcement officers and the community will spend time together in an effort to raise awareness on community safety.

Sergeant (Sgt.) Shannon Caraway with the Laurel Police Department said its the perfect time to bridge the gap between officers and the public.

"We are just going to try and let both sides know that I am human, you are human, we are doing things out here to live in this city, we are trying to make it great" said Sgt. Caraway.

She added, "We are here for them (public) and whatever their needs are."
