HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Hattiesburg Police responded to 5712 on Highway 49 of a pregnant pedestrian struck by a vehicle Sunday night.
Upon arrival officers located the driver of a Ford Mustang and the pedestrian being tended to by ambulance personnel.
HPD Spokesman Lt. Jon Traxler said, "The pedestrian was transported to Forrest General Hospital due to her injuries. It was learned the pedestrian was pregnant at the time of the crash and the unborn fetus did not survive."
Authorities said based on the age of the fetus the coroner advised it would not be considered a fatality because it was less than 350 Grams in weight.
The driver did not have any injuries and was released.
The investigation is ongoing.
