LAUREL, Miss. - The Laurel Police Department held its annual "Night Out Against Crime" event Tuesday night.
The police department was pleased with the turnout.
Chief of Laurel Police, Tyrone Stewart said, "Every year we're so excited for this time of the year to come, to come out and be able to rapport with the community, talk with everybody from all the communities in Laurel. The Laurel Police Department staff has done a tremendous great job in hosting this event."
The event was created to help bring law enforcement and the community together and to fellowship with one another.
Good music, free food, prizes, and games were an additional bonus.
Attendee, Joshua Jones said, "I think the coolest part was when they was up there dancing for the contest and winning stuff, and giving out the book bags."
"This is a great idea for us to come together and come along with the police because all the things that are going on around the world, I think that it's very important for us to come together and solve stuff," said attendee, Jaylessa Guston.
