Hattiesburg Police Department adds 5 more officers

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Hattiesburg Police Department (HPD) swore in 5 officers at City Hall Monday.

Mayor Johnny DuPree swore the officers in as family members pinned their badges.

The fives officers are: Jacob Knight, Hunter Gavin, Christopher Sargent, William Gordon, and Adam Jones.

Spokesman Lieutenant Jon Traxler said, "It just gives us assets, and that is what we need is to put more man power on the streets."

"To better enforce the laws, do better security, and safety for our citizens of Hattiesburg" said Lt. Traxler.

This will bring HPD at 101 police officers.
