ELLISVILLE, Miss. - This is a press release from Governor Phil Bryant's office.
Following a competitive site-selection process, Praxair Surface Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX), and GE Aviation today announced the formal creation of joint venture PG Technologies, LLC, which will primarily be located in Ellisville. This location will supplement the services from other PG Technologies locations in Indianapolis, Ind., and the Republic of Singapore, as well as from the global facility network of Praxair Surface Technologies. Praxair Surface Technologies and its subsidiary will hold the majority interest in the joint venture, with GE Aviation and its subsidiary holding the remainder.
The project will increase employment at the former GE Aviation facility to 250 by 2020, with the potential to grow to 400 jobs.
“PG Technologies will combine the expertise of GE Aviation and Praxair, continuing the tradition of quality for which both companies are known. I look forward to this new partnership thriving in Ellisville and thank the leadership of PG Technologies for choosing a Mississippi location,” Gov. Phil Bryant said.
The manufacturing joint venture will provide the development, support and application of specialized coatings for GE components associated with nearly all of GE’s aircraft engines. GE Aviation will deliver jet engine parts from its locations throughout the U.S. to PG Technologies to undergo surface coating through various processes.
“Access to a rich pool of manufacturing talent is critical to our success, and we found that in Mississippi,” said PG Technologies Board Member and Praxair Surface Technologies President Pierre Lüthi. “We look forward to being in production at the Ellisville facility in the second half of 2017.”
“With engine production volume levels growing, GE’s need for specialized coatings will also increase, and this joint venture will ensure we meet our commitments on the performance and durability of our engines,” said Colleen Athans, vice president and general manager of GE Aviation’s Supply Chain.
The Mississippi Development Authority provided assistance in support of the project for infrastructure and building improvements, relocation of equipment and workforce training. The Jones County Economic Development Authority, city of Ellisville, Jones County and Mississippi Power are assisting with the project, as well.
“MDA thanks the Praxair and GE Aviation teams for choosing Ellisville as the primary site of PG Technologies, a decision which will bring exciting new career opportunities to Mississippians as well as enhance Mississippi as an aerospace innovative technology leader,” said MDA Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. “We salute our partners at the Jones County Economic Development Authority, Mississippi Power, the city of Ellisville and Jones County for their teamwork with MDA, which played an important role in bringing this project to fruition.”
