3 Veterans honored in Petal

PETAL, Miss. - The City of Petal had its "Veterans Day Program" at the Civic Center Friday.

This year, the city recognized three veterans for their courageous sacrifice and service.

The city honored T.J. Gordon, Stanley Jenkins, and Harold Marx Sr. for their valued time in the Army.

Darryl Brady, director of Jackson Veteran Affairs said, "It humbles me because the three honorees today served this country, this great nation, and I just found it fitting to honor them today in front of their families, and friends, and the community. I thought it was a wonderful thing to do."

"We have to reach out to our veterans and honor them for their sacrifices. I think about all of our rights. Our right to vote, our right to assemble freedom of speech, and all the other rights that we're so privileged to have. I think it's important we recognized our veterans for their contributions," said Brady.
