HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss (6-6) will be playing Louisiana Lafayette (6-6) in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 17.
The team was thrilled when they found out the news.
Head coach, Jay Hopson said, "It's always positive to have a bowl game. I think that's always a benefit. I think that's always a thing that you can build on and it's a reward for the players. For just the hard work and effort they've put in. So, definitely excited about the bowl game. I think our football team is thrilled about it. I think they're fired up and it's a game they're looking forward to."
In the USM and ULL series, the Golden Eagles have a 39-11-1 overall record against the Ragin' Cajuns.
Southern Miss will try to extend their record to 40 wins come next Saturday.
