HATTIESBURG, Miss. - One local man has been nominated for a Grammy.

Recording artist, Vasti Jackson has been a part of Grammy winning projects in the past. And now, for the first time, he received a Grammy nomination as a solo recording artist. His sixth CD, “The Soul of Jimmie Rodgers” received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album.

Jackson will have a Grammy nomination party/Christmas jam at Brewsky’s Friday night.

Jackson said “I want Hattiesburg people to come to Brewsky’s and celebrate us. I want them to remember that night as something that they are all included in, that they’re a part of this Grammy nomination, everybody in this city. I’ve been performing here for years. So, I want to see people. I want to talk to them. I want to shake them hands, and I want to say we did it.”

Jackson said there will be Christmas presents given out, as well as guitars, CDs, and other merchandise for sale.

The party begins at 8 p.m.
