HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Mississippi Gold Star families will have a memorial at Camp Shelby on January 11 to help honor fallen soldiers.
Industrial engineer, Leonard Scardino said, "What we're doing is we're getting a monument called Gold Star families monument. It's a monument made for the families of our fallen soldiers, so that we as people can come down and see that even though our soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice, the families left behind are also left behind. And, we're trying to get the word out and ask all of our Gold Star members and anybody else who wants to come out and pay tribute to our soldiers and our families."
Scardino said they are planning to provide monuments on the coast, in Jackson, and near Tupelo.
Governor, Phil Bryant and other leaders will be at Camp Shelby for the ceremony.
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
