Southern Miss police practicing active shooter training
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Southern Miss police geared up for its annual active shooter training Thursday at the Asbury Hall campus.
Officials said its to be readily prepared in an event of an emergency, but most of all to make sure its student body has peace of mind.
“Because I want the parents to know their students, their children out here safe. That we are working very hard to keep them safe. And as a parent I would want to know that with my kids at their school" said Lt. Chris Graves with Southern Miss police.
The department received its training from Texas Tech's active-alert shooting program.
Officials said it will have another training next week.
