Virginia students helping with disaster relief
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Students from Liberty University in Virginia are helping the Pine Belt with disaster relief this week.
LU Send Now, Liberty University’s disaster relief initiative, sent 11 students and two staff members to Hattiesburg, Miss., to assist Samaritan’s Purse with clean-up efforts after the deadly E-F3 tornado.
Liberty students were dispatched to Albany, Ga., a few weeks ago to assist Samaritan’s Purse with relief efforts there.
LU Staff Leader Patrick Campbell said, "We are Basically bringing Jesus to Mississippi, you know being Christ’s hands and feet here, we believe at Liberty, the son of man came to serve and not to be served.”
Samaritan's Purse a non-profit organization that functions solely through volunteers said, "We cannot do anything without volunteers, so groups like Liberty coming in and partnering with us, enable us to actually help the homeowner.”
The trip to Mississippi will mark LU Send Now’s 15th trip. Students will depart Saturday February 11.
