February 17, 2017

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Residents only have a few more weeks to purchase a United Way raffle ticket for a chance to win $100,000.

The tickets are $100 a piece and all the proceeds will go towards United Way of SEMS. The money will help its mission in serving the people of the Pine Belt.

United Way of SEMS is one of the many organizations helping with the tornado disaster relief and recovery efforts.

The winner of last year's raffle Cheri Benoit said she is happy that he donation is all for a good cause.

“You know it takes so much, like when we just had the tornado, it takes everybody helping and it takes everybody pitching in, even if it’s just a little bit, so like I say even if you do not win, you are still giving something that you know is going to help our community" said Benoit.

Last year United Way of SEMS sold 2,000 tickets and its hoping to sell just as much.
