Forrest General Hospital celebrates National Donate Life Month

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency and Forrest General Hospital teamed up together Wednesday to help promote National Donate Life Month at Forrest General.

There was a flag dedication at the main entrance of the hospital to honor donors and to recognize the significance of being an organ donor.

One woman was honored at the event for becoming a donor after seeing her son donate his organs to help save people's lives before he passed away.

Organ donor, Adrian Murry said, "I think it meant more to him at the time than me, because I really didn't understand what it meant to be an organ donor. I respect him for making such a selfless decision. I'm very proud of him. When people give of themselves in such that manner, you cannot be angry at something they decide to do. So, it touched me to be more giving and helping others. So, that's why I go out and reach out to people to consider being an organ donor. He taught me to be selfless myself and to think about others."
