South Central Regional Medical Center honor volunteers for their hard work

LAUREL, Miss. - South Central Regional Medical Center hosted its Volunteer Awards Ceremony Appreciation Reception Tuesday to honor those who donated their time to helping patients.

Around 100 volunteers were recognized for putting in hundreds and hundreds of hours into helping others.

Doug Higginbotham, President & CEO of South Central Regional Medical Center said, "Volunteers are an integral part of our organization. They are caring, compassionate people who come and help make our organization go forward. These are people who do this because they love others. They're here. They're not getting paid to do this. They come because they want to help others. And, to see this number of people in our community do that is really heartwarming."

Higginbotham said the hospital has been honoring volunteers through this ceremony for 17 years.
