Hattiesburg Zoo "ABC" Camp, educating children
HATTIESBURG, MS. - The Hattiesburg Zoo is hosting its annual ABC summer camp this week. Children ages 5 and 6 investigate new and exciting animals every day "letter by letter".
The young explorers encounter hands on activities and learn all about the different types of animals. Zoo officials said it is great to expose children at a young age to learn about the ecosystem.
Hattiesburg Zoo Educational Manager Jeremy Cumpton said, "All animals are important, even the scary ones like snakes to some people."
"We help the kids be aware that we have a role in the ecosystems as well. So we are just starting to have conservation in their minds, that the biggest message we want them to have here" said Cumpton.
Children that are interested in learning about different animals can sign up for the edZOOcational Summer Camps being hosted throughout June and July.
According to officials the next zoo camp in June is already sold out. For more information you can click here.
