Southern Miss' wheelchair basketball team to host clinic
HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Southern Miss wheelchair basketball team is hosting a wheelchair basketball clinic and an exhibition game Saturday.
A wheelchair basketball team from Louisiana and Alabama will be there, as well as the Hattiesburg Fire Department and the Hattiesburg Police Department.
The police and fire departments lost pretty badly to the Golden Eagles last year, and the team will give both departments a chance to redeem themselves this year.
Sylvester Crosby, USM’s wheelchair basketball president and player said, "What we're going to do is we're going to take the teams and we're going to go through the clinic at first. And then we're going to separate amongst each other and combine the teams together. All three teams, and make two teams. And we'll play against each other so everybody can get a chance to play against somebody different and with somebody different."
The clinic will be from 8-5 p.m. at USM’s Payne Center.
The Hattiesburg Police Department and the Hattiesburg Fire Department will play each other at 4 p.m.
Everyone is encouraged to come out and play wheelchair basketball even if you do not have a disability.
