Local residents enjoy Independence Day

Hattiesburg, Miss. - Barbecue, sunshine, a glistening lake and family are just a few of the essential ingredients for a traditional American celebration.

This fourth of July, families worked to spend quality time together in the name of 'Independence.' "Fourth of July means freedom to me and family. And having a good time and just reflecting on all that's been given to us." Pine Belt Resident Kelly Lambert said. "Just hanging out with family, eating, we'll do fireworks tonight..." Lambert stated.

Families gathered at parks and other locations across the Pine Belt. However, specifically at Lake Serene, located off of Highway 98, found a common goal today besides enjoying delicious food. After sunset, everyone anticipated loud, colorful and brilliant fireworks to seal the Independence day deal.
