St. Joseph Hospice Care gives back to Jones Co. first responders and senior citizens

JONES COUNTY, MS. - St. Joseph Hospice Care and the Jones County Sheriff's Department teamed up Thursday at JCSD's Training Center to give back to the community.

St. Joseph Hospice Care boiled 200 pounds of shrimp for 500 local first responders and senior citizens. Executive Director Sandy Ladnier said the organization wants to thank their local community with an appreciation lunch.

“We want them to know that each day when they get up, and they start their day, or each night when they start their night shift, that there is somebody out there that cares and is dependent on them and it is not just the citizens they serve" said Ladnier.

JCSD's Major Jamie Tedford said both the department and St. Joseph Hospice Care wanted to bring the community together and show their appreciation. "It just means so much to us like so many times in the past with the community coming together" said Major Tedford.

He said, "The community cooking for us and providing for us, from a law enforcement perspective, it means so much.”

St. Joseph Hospice Care teams up with law enforcement agencies across the Pine Belt to provide an appreciation lunch.
