SPAS officials say shelter is up to capacity, need Pine Belt's help

HATTIESBURG, MS. - The Southern Pines Animal Shelter is asking the Pine Belt residents for assistance. It says they are completely out of space at the shelter with 300 dogs and cats.

SPAS Manager Ginny Sims says it has a steady stream of animals continually coming to the shelter.

According to SPAS in order to have enough space for incoming animals its asking residents to foster or adopt their animals.

Sims says, "Summer is here and so what that means for the shelter is that we have a huge influx of not just dogs and cats needing homes, but also puppies and kittens"

Officials say taking even one foster can save multiple lives. She added, "The shelter is just waiting for these animals to find their new homes.”

The shelter is hosting its 5th Annual Quin's Day this weekend. All cat adoption fees will be waived as well as select dogs according to Sims.
