PRCC's Dr. Adam Breerwood begins first academic year as president

POPLARVILLE, Miss. - Dr. Adam Breerwood first started his career at Pearl River Community College (PRCC) as the assistant baseball coach. He then became a faculty member, and has now worked his way up to become the President of PRCC.

"It's been exceptional. I love coming to work every day. I love the opportunity to work with this outstanding faculty to try and create life-changing opportunities for our students. The response has been overwhelming. I'm still in a honeymoon phase, but I'm loving every minute of it," said Breerwood.

Breerwood has been the president for less than two months, and believes his short-term goals will be accomplished in no time.

"First thing we want to do is make sure we get on the same page. I think my job is to create a really clear level of expectations. Once we have those things established, I think we can get into our long-term goals," said Breerwood.

His long-term goal is to do whatever it takes to make PRCC the number one community college in the country, despite state-funding issues.

"Although the budget's tough, we're not going to use that as an excuse to do certain things that we just can't do. We're going to do everything we need to do to be successful. I'm a first-generation college student. I had my challenges. But I can tell you if you give Pearl River Community College a chance, the world is more less at your fingertips. We can make you whatever you want to be," said Breerwood.

Breerwood also said he hopes to be at PRCC for a long time, and end his career there.
