Community helps USM freshmen class move on campus

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Hundreds of USM Freshmen moved on campus Friday with the help of students and local leaders.

Despite the rainy weather, Mayor Toby Barker lent a hand with a group of fire fighters, to help ease the college transition for the new Golden Eagles. School organizations, Greeks and city officials came out to help freshmen unpack their cars.

“You want the freshman to feel comfortable because it’s a big change, it’s a big step." USM Senior, Jaylon Graves said. "Pretty much every kid looks forward to coming to college and they’re kinda leaving their parents, a lot of people are moving far away from where they stay so, it’s just good to make them feel at home and like they have a family here.”

USM will resume scheduled classes for Fall 2017 Wednesday, August 16th.
