HATTIESBURG, Miss. - One local business owner had an idea to help Hurricane Harvey victims and the Pine Belt supported his vision with pounds of food Tuesday afternoon.
At the parking lot of Mid-Town Market, a group of volunteers had one goal in mind. That was to collect donations of food, clothes and more from people across the Pine Belt.
"...Corner Market providing all the food for volunteers, Coco-Cola providing all the water, Trust-mark has sent employees over here. It’s just the out pouring of support has been amazing," said Co-Owner of Mid-Town Market, Pancho James.
The central Hattiesburg location served as a drive through drop off with everyone working to fill a semi-truck with food and supplies for those who lost everything during Hurricane Harvey in Houston.
“We’re not yet at noon and we’ve already loaded probably half of an eighteen wheeler with supplies,” said food donor Brett Farve.
Volunteers will leave for Texas Wednesday morning.
