Southern Miss hires Deputy Coordinator to assist in Title IX office

PINE BELT, Miss. - The University of Southern Mississippi expanded the Title IX office with creating and filling a new position for Hattiesburg and Gulf Coast campuses.

Dr. Lenore Schaffer is the new Title IX Deputy Coordinator, to assist the Title IX Coordinator with federal implantation and compliance efforts to prohibit sex discrimination and misconduct.

"..sexual assault happens in the boarder community, on campuses we have incidents as well so we really want to make sure that students and employees know that sexual misconduct will not be tolerated on our campus and if it does happen, they have resources," said Dr. Schaffer.

Schaffer said sexual misconduct includes relationship violence, cyber stalking, unwanted touching, pressure from a superior to engage in unwanted sexual behavior and more.
