Forrest General Holds A HIV Awareness Conference

Forrest General Hospital held an HIV awareness conference Wednesday, focused on improving HIV care in both women and minority populations

Program speaker, medical director of Charles Drew Medical Center, Wilbert Jordan encouraged everyone to educate themselves about the deadly virus, and to also make sure they know their status.

"The HIV rate in Mississippi is at a critical level," Jordan said. "We evolved to where we have treatments now that can keep people who are HIV positive from infecting others. We also have treatments that can prevent anyone who is HIV negative from getting it. The problem is the people who need it, are not the people who are asking for it.
