HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The William Carey University Office of Admissions will host the 11th annual Pine Belt College Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Conference Center on the Hattiesburg campus.
Students will have the opportunity to visit with 35 college and military representatives to explore admissions requirements and deadlines, scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and campus visit dates. It also allows the students to develop a rapport with the recruiter from his or her college choice.
Alissa King, Director of Admissions, states, “The Pine Belt College Fair has grown to 27 high schools and academies and serves as the largest college fair in the state,” said Alissa King, WCU director of admissions. “I am thrilled that students from an 11-county area will join us at WCU to finalize scholarship opportunities. This fair will allow students to visit with more college choices, save fellow colleagues on travel expenses, and most importantly, assist our high school counselors with the coordination of the fair. It benefits everyone participating. I have already received inquiries from high schools that want to attend next year and hope that the college fair continues to grow.”
Madison Peyton, a graduate of WCU and recruiter for the university, remembers attending the Pine Belt College Fair during her senior year in high school. “I enjoyed being exposed to a variety of schools and programs during the college fair and learning what each could offer. The information that I received at the fair helped me solidify my college choice of William Carey University.”
The following 27 high schools and academies will be in attendance: Bay Springs High School, Columbia Academy, Columbia High School, East Marion High School, Forrest County Agriculture High School, Jefferson County High School, Lamar Christian, Laurel Christian, Leake Academy, Lumberton High School, Mount Olive High School, North Forrest High School, Northeast Jones High School, Petal High School, Prentiss Christian, Presbyterian Christian, Purvis High School, Raleigh High School, Taylorsville High School, Richton High School, Sacred Heart High School, Seminary High School, Simpson Academy, Sylva Bay Academy, Wayne County High School, Wayne Academy, and Youth Challenge Academy.
