Local girl receives trip to Hawaii from Make-A-Wish Mississippi and donors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi held a special homecoming party for their most recent recipient in Hattiesburg on Wednesday.

18-year-old, Mallory Ratcliff, attended a surf camp in Hawaii with celebrity surfer Bethany Hamilton. With the help of a local business donor Roberts Group and Kretschmar Premium Deli Meats and Cheeses, Ratcliff's wish was granted within a year.

“We care, we care about whats going on in your life. We want to see the better days ahead for you and we want to be apart of it. That’s what is really meaningful to us,” said Rod Henderson of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Mississippi.

David Roberts of the local Roberts Group said it was a "no brainer" to help Mallory see the world past her condition, " “It means a lot to us and especially to be able to see it happen. That’s our main goal of this, for all the people in the stores and everyone who raised the money – is to see it happen," Roberts shared.

Mallory's mother, Belinda Ratcliff stated she feels and appreciates the love from the community.

“It was great to have local business men and corporations to give themselves and their time – and the employees of the store to support her,” said Belinda Ratcliff.

Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded to make life better for kids with life threatening medical conditions.
