Mayor Toby Barker Issues Proclamation

HATTIESBURG MISS. - Friday at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church, Mayor Toby Barker issued a proclamation for "National Hunger and Homeless Week." Mayor Barker spoke about how homelessness impacts the Pine Belt community "Well in a town like Hattiesburg where you have so many different highways coming together... we are a major metropolitan area and you are going to have a large amount of folks who don't have a place to stay," Mayor Barker said. "So, we know we have a large homeless community here in Hattiesburg so when you have opportunities like this, when bring all your stakeholders together to talk about how we can raise awareness and try to fill in gaps. That's a good thing."
