This is a press release from the City of Hattiesburg.

Hattiesburg, Mississippi – The City of Hattiesburg’s Urban Development department will host a series of public hearings to identify and prioritize the city’s community development activities for the next five years. Meetings are scheduled for the following dates, times and locations:
Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. – CE Roy Community Center
Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 6 p.m. – Lake Terrace Convention Center
Thursday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. – Thames Elementary School
Every five years, the city is required to create a Consolidated Plan to describe the types of projects and activities it will pursue with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership (HOME) funds.
“These public hearings are an excellent opportunity for our citizens to provide input on the front-end on what they believe should be our priorities, from housing rehabilitation to demolition activities to infrastructure projects, education initiatives or a host of other eligible projects,” said Andrew Ellard, director of Urban Development.
Suggestions and comments received at all meetings, as well as those received in writing, will be taken into consideration in preparing the Consolidated Plan. Written comments must be received by Friday, February 9, 2018. For questions or more information, please call 601-554-1006.
