Hyde-Smith presides over U.S. Senate
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Newly-installed U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) opened today's session on Capitol Hill.
Hyde-Smith began the Senate proceedings calling on the Senate's Chaplain, Dr. Barry Black, to offer prayer.
Her office says Hyde-Smith, who succeed the retired Thad Cochran, is expected to remain in this role on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.
