HPD: Investigating scam involving “Jim Miller” of Brandon asking for donations to local police fund

(The following is a press release from the Hattiesburg Police Department.)

 

Hattiesburg Police are warning the public of an ongoing scam that is soliciting people for money.

 

We have received reports of a person going by the name of “Jim Miller” calling from 601-706-7634, from Brandon Mississippi, asking for donations for the Hattiesburg Police Department Benevolent Fund.

 

The caller is asking for donations on three levels, $100, $250, and $500.

 

The police department is not soliciting funds in this way. It is a scam, and do not give them any money or any personal information or banking information.
